How it works
Counts full years, months, and days from your birth date to today.
The calculation walks down from years to months to days and borrows correctly when the current day or month falls earlier than your birth day or month, which is where naive subtraction goes wrong.
Because it counts completed periods, the result rolls over only on the actual anniversary — you are still a given age right up until the day before your next birthday.
Years = full years since birth; remaining months and days are what is left over after the last completed birthday, borrowing from the previous month's day count when needed.
Worked examples
Born 1990-01-01, evaluated on 2026-06-22. → 36 years, 5 months, 21 days old.
36 full years to 2026-01-01, then 5 months to 2026-06-01, then 21 days to the 22nd.
Born 2000-12-15, evaluated on 2026-06-22. → 25 years, 6 months, 7 days old.
The last birthday was 2025-12-15; six months and seven days have passed since.
Tips & gotchas
- If you need age for a legal or insurance threshold, use the exact day — many cutoffs hinge on being a full year older on a specific date.
- Time zones can shift the day count by one near midnight; the calculation uses your device's local date.
- For a baby's age in weeks (common in pediatrics), use the day count and divide by seven rather than reading the months figure.
- Leap-year birthdays (Feb 29) typically count the anniversary as March 1 in non-leap years for legal purposes.
FAQ
Does it include the day I was born?
It counts completed time from your birth date forward, so your first full day of life is day one and your age ticks up on each birthday anniversary.
How are months handled when they have different lengths?
When the current day is earlier than your birth day, the tool borrows the actual number of days from the previous calendar month, so February and 31-day months are handled correctly.
Why does my age in days seem high?
A single year is 365 or 366 days, so even a few decades add up fast — someone in their thirties has lived well over 12,000 days.
